Amélie Bertrand

Amélie Bertrand first dipped her toes in accounting in 2003, while she was studying in a completely different field. It was love at first sight: A combination of numbers, precision work and the law. After a few years working in the film industry, she was recruited by the Cirque du Soleil head finance/holdings department where she gained experience in financial reporting. She then joined the Donald K. Donald Entertainment Group finance department, where she met Oko Shio.

When the company they worked for got sold, the pair took a leap of faith and founded Music by Numbers, where her position as controller allows Amélie to exploit her passion for numbers and her love for detailed precision work. Always seeking news ways to improve, she finds satisfaction in improving her clients’ workflow and efficiency and making their finances work for them. Her greatest pride? Transforming MBN into a fully remote boutique firm so that her clients can make real-time financial decisions. Seventeen years later, her love for accounting is still the same as day one.

Amélie’s first language is French but she learned English while pursuing her studies at McGill University where she studied accounting and earned a certificate in human resources management.

In her free time, Amélie loves going for walks with her cockapoo, experiencing fine dining and travelling to new places. She has now visited over 25 countries and plans on checking more boxes on her bucket list in the near future.
